What Draws Non-Jews to Join the National Research Institute of Kabbalah?

Madonna is by far the most influential Hollywood celebrity to ever join the Kabbalah movement. In the nineties, the most famous student at the Kabbalah center was the Playboy model Sandra Bernhard. Bernhard is said to have finally found a lasting fulfillment and unending joy in her life thanks to the wisdom of the iconic Israeli teacher, Eitan Yardeni. Other stars practicing Kabbalah are Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher, Marylyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor. Surprisingly, most of the new converts are Gentiles or non-Jews and more information click here.

Why Madonna Joined Kabbalah?

Speaking in an interview with the Times Magazine, the late Sammy Davis cited the reason that he wanted to become a part of a selfless tradition spanning back over 5,000 years. Madonna speaking in a presser termed the practice as a fantastic opportunity for anyone to make a positive impact in their life and on people and learn more about Kabbalah.

Saving Britney Spears

Madonna is reported to have helped the pop star Britney Spears find clarity in her otherwise chaotic life by introducing her to the Kabbalah Center. Britney later fell off the Madonna wagon. Rabbi Robert Goldburg convinced Madonna to join the organization close to two decades past. Rabbi Robert has kind words for Madonna in this post. The spiritual teacher calls her, ‘an extremely loving person.’

Elizabeth Taylor Connection

Elizabeth Taylor shocked the world when she offered to trade herself in exchange of the 100 mostly-Israelis held hostages in Entebbe, Uganda. Later, Taylor and her Foundation would sponsor an award-winning documentary highlighting the horrors of genocides around the world. It’s no secret genocides are a sacrosanct issue to all Jews and Israelis, for that matter and Kabbalah’s lacrosse camp.

Critics

The organization continues to face sharp criticism from certain quotas of the Jewish community. Rabbis have repeatedly protested that the Kabbalah Center is not an authentic Jewish-teachings institution. For starters, the Hebrew teachings are only reserved for people aged 40 years and above while the Center for Kabbalah Research is open for all.

History of Kabbalah Center

Construction work on the Kabbalah Center in the US ended in late 1965. The founding fathers were Philip Berg (Rav), Rav Yehuda Tzvi Brandwein and Karen Berg (Feivel). The first contemporary Kabbalah Center was established in New York City. The non-profit organization has grown steadily over the decades to have well over 50 branches countrywide. The discipline is not being a religion per se, rather Kabbalah ought to complement the other religions for a balanced and fulfilling life.
