The epic 10-year $150 million deal between Jay-Z and music industry giant, Live Nation, is scheduled to come to an end next year, and it has been reported that the music mogul has been reaching out to some key figures within the industry in order to negotiate a new deal in regards to Roc Nation’s recorded music. The original deal is what is referred to as a “360” deal, and there is a clause in it that will allow either Jay-Z or Live Nation to sell the other party their stake in Roc Nation if they chose to do so or to even buy the company in its entirety.
While sources have revealed that Live Nation is adamant about walking away from their deal with Roc Nation in regards to the recorded music sector, due to the fact that they are no longer in the business of investing in the medium, they are reportedly still very interested in continuing their touring deal with Jay-Z, as it has been extremely lucrative for all parties involved. The Roc Nation roster currently includes superstars such as Rihanna, Fat Joe, Meek Mill, Shakira, and Jay-Z himself, there has been speculation that Jay-Z will look to take this lineup to another major. Recently Jay-Z and longtime business partner, Dez Perez where spotted at the Santa Monica offices of Universal Music Group’s Chief Executive Officer, Sir Lucien Grainge.
Desiree “Dez” Perez is a longtime associate of Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter’s and has helped to guide his career for the better part of their 20-year relationship. She is currently executive at Roc Nation, helping to oversee many of the major operations, as well as a fierce business negotiator.
